Nancy Massey, M.A., CCC-SLP

Director and Speech-Language Pathologist

Nancy Massey is the owner/director of Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic. Nancy received her M.A. degree in Speech - Language Pathology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is certified by the American Speech - Language -Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the State of Tennessee. Nancy has a lengthy clinical background as well as having received many hours of continuing education and has worked in hospital and home health, as well as private clinic settings. She has extensive experience in the areas of Language/Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Nancy also has a strong interest in working with adult voice disorders, as well as aphasia and cognitive rehabilitation, and enjoys working with a diverse population of patients including children and adults. She is a PROMPT Certified Clinician. Nancy also holds Hanen certifications as well as a level 2 certificate/advanced (CL2) from the Profectum Academy in DIR/Floortime. She also provides treatment with Interactive Metronome.

Courtney Creed, M.S., CF-SLP

CLINICAL FELLOW, speech-language pathologist

Courtney Creed joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in October of 2023 as a speech-language pathologist. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Studies and a minor in American Sign Language. She then attended New York University, where she completed a Master's degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Courtney has experience working with both the adult and pediatric populations across schools, private practice, and inpatient rehabilitation settings. Her clinical experience includes providing services to individuals with receptive and expressive language disorders, speech sound disorders, fluency disorders, social communication disorders, aphasia, dysphagia, feeding disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and individuals who utilize alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Courtney is dedicated to growing her knowledge in the field of speech-language pathology, so that she can best serve her clients. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her husband and Dalmatian, Beale. 

Brooke Pannell, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Brooke joined the Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in August 2015 as a Speech-language Pathologist.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  She then graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2003 with her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  She has experience in private practice settings, public and private schools, and child development facilities, where she served adults and children with a wide variety of communication disorders, including Auditory Processing Disorders, aphasia, stuttering, feeding disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.  She is a certified oral motor specialist, with specific
training in Debra Beckman Oral Motor Intervention and the Talk Tools Program.  She has also received certification in Hanen More Than Words, and is a certified Interactive Metronome provider.  Brooke has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American
Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), and is a licensed speech pathologist in Tennessee and Mississippi.  Brooke lives in Germantown with her husband, three children, and an adorable yellow Labrador, and she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Kelly Richert, M.A., CCC-SLP

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Kelly Richert joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in 2018 as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Memphis State University in 1998 and her Masters of Arts in Speech-Language Pathologist from the University of Memphis in 1991. She has has worked with adults and primarily children in various settings including public and private schools, nursing facilities, private practice and outpatient clinics. She has worked with a variety of diagnosis including Development Delay, Autism, Phonology and Language Impairments, Fluency Disorders and Auditory Processing Disorders. She is a Certified and Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist as recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the state of Tennessee.

Maggie Strassburger, M.S., CF-SLP

CLINICAL FELLOW, speech-language pathologist

Maggie Strassburger joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in October of 2023 as a speech-language pathologist. She received her Bachelor's degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Tennessee in 2021. She then graduated from New York University with her Master's degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders in 2023. 

Maggie has worked with both children and adults across schools, private practice, and skilled nursing settings. She has experience working with individuals who have speech sound disorders, language disorders, social communication disorders, dysphagia, feeding disorders, apraxia, and autism spectrum disorder. Maggie has also had the opportunity to work with children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She is committed to continuing educating herself and seeking opportunities/certifications in the field to help better support her clients. In Maggie's free time, she likes to spend time with family, travel, and attend Memphis Grizzlies games. 


Katherine M. Pennington, M.A., CCC-SLP

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Katherine M. Pennington joined Germantown Speech Language and Learning Clinic in March of 2008. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Professional Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Child Development from Louisiana Tech University in May 2000. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a Master’s of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology in May 2002. She has experience working in child development centers, private practice settings, and private school settings. She has served children with a variety of communication disorders including speech sound disorders, language disorders, fluency disorders, and processing disorders. She is has received specific training in Debra Beckman Oral Motor Intervention and the Talk Tools Program. In addition, Katie is trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory Approach to feeding disorders which treats children with sensory-based feeding disorders. Katie has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed speech pathologist in the state of Tennessee.

Matthew Berry, M.A., CF-SLP

Clinical Fellow, Speech-Language Pathologist

Matthew Berry is a recent graduate of the University of Memphis with a Masters of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. He received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Memphis in Philosophy, with a minor in Creative Writing. He has worked with adults and children in both private practice and outpatient rehabilitation settings. He has experience serving children and adults with communication disorders including fluency disorders, language disorders, pragmatics, voice disorders, autism spectrum disorders, acquired neurogenic language disorders (aphasia), and motor speech disorders (apraxia, dysarthria). He has a graduate certificate in Augmentative and Alternative Communication as well as in Endoscopy. He continues to expand his knowledge of evidence-based practice in the pursuit of providing the best care to his clients. Matthew is a musician, artist, and writer, and enjoys spending time with his dog and family.

Shelby Adams, M.A., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Shelby Adams joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in January of 2023 as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She formerly worked in our front office from August of 2017-May 2019. Shelby received a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in Child Development and Family Studies from the University of Memphis in 2017. Shelby graduated from the University of Memphis with a Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in August of 2020 after receiving the Louise Ward Fellowship Award. She has experience evaluating and treating weaknesses in receptive and expressive language, fluency, articulation, pragmatics, and phonology with children in early intervention, elementary schools, and outpatient rehabilitation settings. In addition to seeing clients, she will be specifically working our Learning in Motion summer camps and coordinating speech/language and occupational therapy screenings in educational institutions. She has a graduate certificate in Augmentative and Alternative Communication and is a certified Interactive Metronome provider. Shelby continues to seek to expand her knowledge and certifications to meet the needs of her clients. She has her certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is a licensed speech pathologist in the state of Tennessee.

Dr. Jennifer Henderson, OTD/OTR/L,BCP

Occupational Therapist

Jennifer Henderson joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in 2018. She is a registered and licensed occupational therapist. She received a BS in Occupational Therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1998, a post-professional master’s of science degree in 2019 from Mount Mary University, and her post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy, leadership track, from Mount Mary University in 2021. Jennifer is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for the department of occupational therapy, and has practiced in various inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings, as well as owned her own practice. She is licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi and holds specialty certification in electrical stimulation and thermal agent modalities. She is a certified provider for Interactive Metronome, iLs Focus System and Safe & Sound Program, and a WINC Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She has extensive continuing education in sensory integration and handwriting. Jennifer received Board Certification in Pediatrics from the American Occupational Therapy Association in 2018.

Katherine Burnett, OTR/L

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Katherine Burnett joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in November of 2021 as an Occupational Therapist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 1998. She has worked with adults and children (mainly pediatrics) in various settings including hospitals, schools and outpatient clinics. She has worked with a variety of diagnosis including Traumatic Brain injuries, Stroke, Fractures, Cerebral Palsy, Development Delay, Autism, Fine-Motor Dysfunction, Sensory Processing Disorder, Down Syndrome, Prematurity, Seizure Disorder, Failure to Thrive, Burns, Spinal Cord injuries and Brachial Plexus injuries. She is a Certified and Registered Occupational Therapist as recognized by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and the state of Tennessee.

Paige Ellis, OT/L

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Paige Ellis joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in August of 2022 as a licensed Occupational Therapist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2003. She has worked with pediatrics and adults in various settings including inpatient rehabilitation, home health, skilled nursing, school systems, and acute care hospitals. Paige has worked with multiple diagnoses including Cerebral Palsy, Development Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Fine-Motor Dysfunction, Sensory Processing Disorder, Down Syndrome, Prematurity, Seizure Disorder, Traumatic Brain injuries, Stroke, Spinal Cord injuries, and Orthopedic impairments.

Harold Haskin

Fitness Trainer and Holistic Health Coach

Harold Haskin began his fitness career as a NASM certified personal trainer in New York City eventually moving to Los Angeles where he ran his own fitness and wellness business for over 10 years. Having the opportunity to study from many great teachers led him into the world of movement training and education. His experience has given him the skill set to offer something unique to the mid-south area. Now, being a dad of two young boys and observing the changing world, his passion is to help others explore their physicality in fun and meaningful ways. Harold works along the GSLLC team for our Learning in Motion camps.

Courtney Whiteley

OFFICE MANAGER

Courtney Whiteley joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in the spring of 2015 as the office manager. She manages all non-clinical aspects of GSLLC and is available to provide information regarding payment, insurance, and appointment scheduling. Courtney is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in Paralegal Studies. She is also a certified medical coder.

Sheryl Hamilton

OFFICE STAFF

Sheryl Hamilton joined Germantown Speech Language & Learning Clinic in the summer of 2019 part time in the front office.  She is able to help with questions regarding payment, insurance, and appointment scheduling.
